Summer is here and it’s time get outside and get moving. In order to start boosting your energy, here is a drink recipe you can have 3-4 times per week to avoid adrenal fatigue.          

Ingredients:

            10 ounces of unsweetened coconut water

            ¼ cup unsweetened cranberries

            ¼ teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt

            ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar

            ½ teaspoon Maca

Step 1      

The first thing to add is 10 ounces of unsweetened coconut water. Coconut water is very high in potassium. A 2005 study found those that had coconut water saw a 71% decrease in their systolic blood pressure, and a 29% decrease in their diastolic blood pressure. When your adrenals are worn out, your blood pressure is elevated.

Step 2           

The next step is to add a quarter-cup of unsweetened cranberries. First boil, then muddle them. Cranberries contain an antioxidant known as a proanthocyanidin, a form of polyphenol that works in the gut lining. Gut lining houses so much of our immune system, that if you're able to support it, you’ll have more energy for your adrenal.

Step 3          

Add a quarter-teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt, rich with 84 good minerals - 21 of which have been proven to have a powerful effect on the body. Why do you need sodium for your adrenals? When our adrenals are fatigued, they're not able to create as much aldosterone which helps regulate mineral balance within the body.

Step 4        

Cream of tartar is also known as potassium hydrogen tartrate, and is a byproduct of wine making. A quarter-teaspoon of this has 16,500 milligrams of potassium per 100 grams. Between the coconut water and the cream of tartar, we've got a potassium-rich drink.

Step 5          

The secret weapon – Maca, an adaptogenic root. Maca controls the hormones by increasing hormones that you are deficient in, or decreasing those that you have too much of.
