HYLETE’s Mike Sherbakov and Stefan Nicolas recently joined Baja Bound in Ensenada, Mexico for a weekend to help end the cycle of poverty. Baja Bound's mission is to positively impact a community by providing a hard-working family in need with a beautiful new home. Along with the house build, they provide hands-on support to local orphanages and feeding programs. The program also provides continuing education and scholarships to underprivileged adolescents.

Mike first heard about Baja Bound several years ago. He learned that children were dying because they lived on dirt floors, unprotected form the elements. Seeing people in need provided Mike with the inspiration to make a difference.

“I saw first-hand how hard family members worked each day in the fields to just survive,” said Mike. “This wasn't just something I wanted to change, I felt it was my responsibility. I began organizing groups to join me on builds, many of which have now gone on to start their own builds, projects, and non-profits.”

One of those individuals who joined Mike was HYLETE’s powered by HYLETE Regional Manager, Stefan Nicolas. Stefan was one of 30 individuals Mike recruited to help raise $12,000 and then spend a weekend in Mexico constructing a new 4 room home complete with windows and a slab floor for the selected family in need.

“The day after I woke thinking about the genuine compassion, love, kindness and respect that I experienced on the weekend house build,” said Stefan. “It is amazing what a group of selfless people can do in 72 hours.”
