Here's a simple, five ingredient smoothie using ginger and turmeric, to help maintain your blood sugar, insulin levels, and digestion.
2 cups frozen strawberries
1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon ginger
5 – 6 pumps liquid turmeric
Two cups of frozen strawberries. Why frozen over fresh? Believe it or not, frozen strawberries actually retain their mineral and nutrient value significantly better because they're flash frozen right after they're picked.
One cup and a half to two cups of unsweetened almond milk. It’s important to use a carrageenan free almond milk. Carrageenan is a derivative of red seaweed extract and is very inflammatory.
One and a half teaspoons of cinnamon. Cinnamon helps negate the effects of the carbohydrates that are in this smoothie by reducing the blood sugar.
One tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. Freshly grated ginger offers more phytonutrients and enzymes that help the digestive system. This smoothie is going to kick start your day, get that enzymatic activity going, and help aid in digestion.
5-6 pumps of turmeric spray. You could use another turmeric option but spray absorbs a lot better. The turmeric is going to act as a liposomal way of modulating some inflammation within the intestinal tract.
