- When was 31Heroes Project started? On August 6, 2011, America lost 30 military service members and one military K9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan. In the wake of the unimaginable tragedy, a mission was born.
- What event does 31Heroes hold? 31Heroes first, and most popular event, is the 31Heroes WOD (workout of the day). This WOD is a 31 minute group AMRAP (as many reps as possible) and consists of 8 thrusters, 6 rope climbs, 11 box jumps, with partners rotating the 400m sandbag carries.
- How many participate in the event 31Heroes is an event that came in the immediate response to help the family of the 30 who were lost. Launched in 2011, the first year of the event raised $300,000 through 430 gyms in just a short few weeks. 4 years later, the 31HEROES WOD has been completed by 35,000 participants in 15 countries and has raised $1.5 million.
