We are excited to further our partnership by introducing our newest male NASM Ambassador, Jimmy Mackey. Jimmy has over 10 years in the fitness industry and has multiple NASM certifications. Learn a little more about Jimmy's health and fitness journey below. 

Can you tell us a little bit about where you’re from? How did your life growing up influence your career?

I was born and raised in Nassau Bahamas. Growing up I was usually one of the tallest in the room, so becoming an athlete was second nature. Fitness played a major part in my success as a professional athlete.

Why are you passionate about your fitness?

I am passionate about fitness because it impacted my career in so many positive ways. I have learned many things through fitness and applied to life, example you can achieve anything you put your mind to. I’m always looking to achieve new PRs when I lift and I don’t stop until I do. Getting better everyday.

Why are you passionate about training and sharing your knowledge with others?

A lot of times when people think about fitness, they instantly relate it to physical activity. I am passionate about enhancing mental fitness along with physical fitness. Training my clients and sharing my knowledge will benefit more people to be mentally and physically strong. Helping people live a healthier lifestyle is gratifying.

What made you decide that you wanted to become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer?

NASM is the gold standard. I decided to become a NASM PT, because the foundation has impressive principles. There was also room for growth through continue education courses.

What does being a NASM Master Instructor mean to you?

Being a NASM Master trainer means that I have applied myself, by putting in the time and commit to do great work in the fitness industry. Now I’m in the ranking of the best of the best! The added bonus is the opportunity to help train others to rise to this level of expertise.

Which NASM training course have you found to be the most impactful for your career?

I love NASM PES performance enhancement specialist course. It has impacted my career by allowing me to build confidence and create proper programming for my athletes of all levels, amateurs to pro athletes.

Which NASM training course have you found to be the most impactful for your personal fitness journey?

The CES Correct Exercise Specialist course helped me to understand my body in the correct way to develop programs that will fit my needs based on pass injuries.

How does the right performance apparel and gear impact your training?

Good question! Looking good and feeling great is an important part of training ; generally I think it’s important for physical sessions that we use apparel and gear that syncs with our natural body movement. The right performance apparel and gear impacts my training base on comfort, lightweight and longevity.

What is your favorite HYLETE product(s) and why?

That’s a tough one, but I love my HYLETE Fuse Shorts. They are my favorite because they are cool, comfortable, and sporty.

What made you want to be a brand ambassador for HYLETE's partnership with NASM?

For me I believe in the principles that the National Academy of Sports Medicine has fostered and their evolution and growth. NASM's relationship with HYLETE speaks volumes and I love the quality in HYLETE gear.

How do you overcome adversity/challenges? What’s your formula, if there is one?

So my formula for addressing adversity is based on devoted faith - which never changes regarded of one’s personal circumstances. My core pillars revolve around maintaining a positive mindset, confidence, and professionalism.

Who has inspired you the most in your life?

My wife has inspired me most but I would also like to mention my mentors who have inspired me in different ways. Todd Durkin and Larry Indivivlia.

What advice would you give to someone who is pursuing a career as a certified trainer?

Get ready for a wild ride!!! No but really I would definitely say patience is key, invest in your knowledge/education as it will help you enhance and develop confidence in the way you train your clients.

What is your favorite workout?

I love me some DEADLIFTS.

What is your favorite healthy food?

A tomahawk steak medium well is my go to meal with a side of broccoli.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

I tend to sneak some vanilla Oreos and milk.

What is your favorite quote?

Only the strong survive.

What is the last book you read?

I just got done reading, “Starts with WHY” by Simone Sinek.

What has been your favorite place to travel?

Italy is definitely a place I would love to visit again.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Flight would be my superpower, I would fly and travel the world.
