National Breast Cancer Awarness Foundation
providing mammograms for women in need
NBCFs mission is to help women by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.
Breast cancer is one of the leading health crises for women in the United States. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.
According to The National Cancer Institute (NCI), getting a high-quality mammogram and having a clinical breast exam on a regular basis are the most effective ways to detect breast cancer early. The National Cancer Institute recommends women age 40 and older receive annual mammogram screenings to provide early detection of breast cancer.
Fit for a Cause
While large charities have a tremendous impact on breast cancer prevention and research, there is still room for everyone to do their part. That’s where people like David Amaro and his ""Fit for a Cause"" boot camp come in. ""Fit for a Cause"" is a small charity group created by David to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
“Cancer runs thick through my family's bloodline,” says David. “I’ve seen many fight, win, and lose. After the death of my Grandma, and then my Mom being diagnosed with breast cancer this year, I decided to fight back!” Now David holds boot camps and other fitness events in North San Diego County. He donates a portion of each workout to cancer research.
