Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is celebrating its 20th year as the marathon series that combines live music with running, to provide a super fun experience. Bands play throughout the course, and in concert afterwards, as runners conquer half-marathons and marathons throughout the world. This summer, there are Rock ‘n’ Roll running events in Chicago, IL Dublin, Ireland, and Virginia Beach, with Montreal towards the end of September. Running (or walking) in one of these energy-filled road races is a great way to introduce yourself to a new city while meeting people from around the world.

Broga Yoga Summer Retreat

Broga is a type of yoga that blends strength training, core workouts, and traditional into a unique class that’s for beginner yogis and professional athletes alike. Although the class was originally geared toward men, there’s now widespread demand from females and males for this simple, easy-to-follow yoga program. In fact, 50% of Broga instructors are female. There are in-person classes, online digital streaming classes, Broga teacher certifications. In 2017, Broga Yoga will hold its first annual summer retreat from August 17-20 at Good Commons in Plymouth, Vermont.

At the retreat, you’ll take Broga classes and workshops led by Broga founder Robert Sidoti. You'll have access to hiking trails, a swimmable waterfall, gourmet meals, group activities and much more. Mountain Trek Fitness Retreat

Mountain Trek is accepting bookings until October for its week-long health and fitness retreat in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. During this instructional tour, you’ll receive daily guided fitness hikes, fitness/yoga classes, therapeutic massages, healthy living lectures, body composition assessments, access to pools, saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzis and more.

CrossFit Games

On August 3-6, the Reebok CrossFit Games will hold its 10th annual international competition, but this time it’ll debut a new location: the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. This event is a must-see for any fitness enthusiast as the festival area contains products, presentations and demonstrations from a plethora of sports/nutrition companies. As for the competition, Mat Fraser looks to repeat as the men’s individual champion, and Katrin Davidsdottir looks to three-peat as the “Fittest Female on Earth.”

Summer travelers are able to camp in RVs or tents on-site at the CrossFit Games for the first-time ever. There’s going to be 200,000 sq. ft. of exhibitors and sponsors and a 20,000 sq. ft. beer garden. This four-day extravaganza is what you make of it, as several packages are available depending on what you want to eat, see, and do in Madison.

Ketanga Fitness Retreats

Ketanga Fitness is a travel planning company that curates international health and wellness retreats for gyms, groups and individuals looking to find the perfect balance between workouts, relaxation, and adventure. The Fit Expo San Jose

Head on over to the Fit Expo San Jose in San Jose, CA from July 29-30th for a weekend packed with everything any fitness enthusiast could ask for. With an expected attendance of over 20,000 people, this fitness festival features hundreds of sports nutrition and apparel booths, several competitions ranging from bodybuilding, to powerlifting to martial arts, and group fitness classes such as PlyoJam and POUND. The special guests are a who’s who in the fitness industry. They include 4-time Mr. Olympia champion Jay Cutler, current Men’s Physique Olympia Champion Jeremy Buendia, fitness icons Billy Blanks and Mike O’Hearn, and many other athletes, trainers, and models will also appear.

Urban Fitness League USA vs. the World

Calisthenics competitions are a rising trend in the fitness industry, with contests complete with judges and weight classes. In 2018, a new league will emerge called the Urban Fitness League (UFL), which will comprise the world’s top calisthenics competitors. On July 4th, the UFL will host a special “UFL World Cup Event” at the Ford Amphitheatre in Coney Island, NY where US extreme calisthenics athletes will battle international athletes to see who is the best on the bar. This first of its kind event will be hosted by fitness personalities Mario Lopez and Tyson Beckford, and feature music from American rapper Jim Jones and hip-hop sensation DJ Envy.

If you’re scrambling for a spectator event on July 4th, this outdoor fitness event is sure to be an energy-packed, unpredictable night of sports, style, and music.
